I used the original strobe clip but could not get used to it and tuning was really difficult. In the end I used another tuner (korg) and found out that the clip part of the peterson clip has broken off without using the clip for years. The korg wasn't very accurate so I now got a tc electronics polytune which appears really accurate and my guitar sounds a lot better. I will keep an eye on the new stroboclip and will probably get one when the polytune breaks. Looks like peterson made the new clip a lot better.

Dave Hum used the Fults 1934 tailpiece on all three of his banjos.

Is that an RB100 with an ebony neck? Also which do you like best, the RB100 or the 250?

I own many, and these comparisons vary widely. IMO depending on the qualities the listeners want to hear. Further, with bridges and setup and string gauges they would all sound different. So define for me the Scruggs tone or any banjo’s tone you want to hear. All are quality banjo’s and even the bend and material of the pick can change a lot. Enjoy!😂

I have the new StroboClip HD. It is fantastic. I did have a hard time updating the firmware. Windows and Linux wouldn't recognize it. But when I plugged it into my Macbook Air, I was able to update the firmware to the current 1.0.6.

Was this one all original with the thinner rim? It sounds great! Thoughts on the thinner rim versions?

I listened to the Flatt and Scuggs recording of this first and was expecting this version to be mediocre. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at how much Mills playing sounded like Scuggs.

I bought a Deering Sierra in England and now live in Spain´s Sierra Nevada. It´s a fine quality instrument. I learned a lesson from my tenor sax though, it is a copy of an excellent design, using the exact same materials with a high standard of workmanship and a professional sax player told me it sounded great -- it was made in China, and cost a fraction of the usual price. If I was looking for another banjo, I would definitely check out the Chinese options, since my Chinese double bass and a few ukuleles all are excellent quality, and the Chinese equipment that I use to run my fruit farm has never let me down. All the prices are much lower than the western competition, where you often pay for a name.
